Mark Richt has been a really good coach and a really positive person in our profession for a long, long time. I think when you win 9 games that's a pretty good season, especially with the body of work he has been able to put together there"

Actually him being surprised at the firing makes me think Herman or someone else is the guy. He would have known if Kirby were going to UGA. Sounds like Smart may have the S.C. job and Herman dropped out of that and is pursuing UGA. Just a guess. Dabo blasted it too. Saying families and assistant families and honetowns are involved. He just mad because smart going to take all of his recruits to UGA
Exactly, Saban know that if he had Marks recent record his butt would have been gone a long time ago. When your competitors like you, you aren't doing your job. What's Saban supposed to say, "I think he sucks, fire him"?

If you think Saban would still be the coach at AL with Richts record, then you don't have a freakin clue what you are talking about. Next!I'll call BS to this line to thinking. Saban and Richt have been professional associates for years. Saban's association with Richt has been both aboveboard, and respectful during the years they both have been in the SEC. Saban has been both an outspoken supporter of the body of work of Richt, and a behind-the-scenes friend of him, as well. The SEC coaching fraternity is close-knit, and Richt and Saban, while not buddy-buddy, are a respectful duo.
In other words, you don't know what you're talking about.

My bad. I take responsibility for taking the wrong quote. The quote I SHOULD HAVE USED was the quote above,
THIS, is where my response SHOULD have been pointed. Read above quote with this quote for context.
Your "point" you were trying to make was about Saban and trying to put words in his mouth. Your point of discussion was about Saban's comment about Richt. You only now brought a comment about Richt's perceived "fair job" at UGA the last decade. I make/made no comment on UGA powers-that-be and their decision, only that Saban and Richt enjoy a professional respect for each other. Evidently, you missed my point, or chose to disregard it.You missed the point. Richt has only done a fair job at UGA the last decade. You can chose to say otherwise but the UGA powers have made what they think clear. I think they made the right call.
The fact that Saban talks nicely about Richt is to be expected. Saban is a pro, and he has always acted that way as he is kicking Richt's tail.
If the roles were reversed, doubt Saban would be pumping up Richt.
Saban is 3-1 against Richt since he came to Alabama, including 3-0 in the state of Georgia.
I suspect Nick would say something
similar if Les Miles gets the boot.
