the one thing that the UGA basketball program needs to stop is the bad losses each season. In my opinion, the way the NCAA picks their teams makes it only reasonable to really only have one bad loss per season. We have been having two to three bad losses pretty consistently for the last 20 years. Losses that just don't make sense.
Everyone seems to be focused on big wins, but I think the program can move forward greatly by just reducing the bad losses to just one a year. Might be pie in the sky for UGA basketball, but like George Washington as a General, its a battle that we can win. Just look at this year - Clemson - Bad loss, Marquette (somewhat, because it was at home), Oakland - Terrible Loss, Alabama at home - Bad loss. A&M - Terrible loss. That's 4 clear bad losses. Look at the history:

97 - @ Tech, @Ole Miss, Vandy at home (Terrible loss to Chattanooga in the Tournament)
98 - West Va - Dome, Vandy, @UF, @Miss St.
99- 2 losses to UT, Fresno St-Dome, Ole Miss (15 total loses)
00- 20 Total loses - too many bad losses to count (Harrick First Year)
01- GA State, Cal, 2 losses to South Carolina (still made the tournament, how..I have no idea)
02- GA state (again), Hawaii (made tournament)
03- Tech, @Vandy (these are borderline, team on probabtion at the end, best overall season since Tubby)
04- Winthrop, USC (home), LSU (home) - 15 total losses (Felton First Year)
05- 20 total losses - too many bad losses to count
06- 15 Total losses - too many bad losses to count - but we did beat GA state that year finally.
07- Western Kentucky (home), @Ole Miss
08- 17 total losses - too many bad losses to count
09- 20 total losses - too many bad losses to count
10- 17 losses - too many bad losses to count (Fox first year)
11- @Vandy, UT(home), Xavier(home) - (Made the tournament)
12- 17 total losses - too many bad losses to count
13- 17 total losses - too many bad losses to count
14- Temple, Davidson, Nebraska, @George Washington, @Auburn
15- @Tech, Minnesota, @LSU, Auburn(home) (Made the tournament)
16- Chattanooga, Kansas State(home), @Auburn

That's 5 coaches total - 5 COACHES! The teams above at the time were average to not good.

Whether I am talking to Mark Fox, or if I'm hiring a new coach at UGA, I would say - My expectations are(beside all of the other academic and running a clean program) is for you to be 500 or better in league play each year and beat the teams you are supposed beat each season. Drub the teams your are supposed to Drub.No more than one bad loss a year! (Even with injuries or suspensions)

How about as fans, we all get behind not losing to the teams we should beat each season. To me, this is the MOST frustrating part of UGA basketball. I can handle losing to a better team or having one bad night to an inferior team. But 2-4 bad night's a year on average is pretty mediocre. This is fixable and should be our goal.Beating Kentucky, or UF on a regular basis is not realistic for UGA basketball. Just one man's opinion.
