I'd be surprised if some of you even click on this thread based upon the title BUT....
We see pitchers in baseball go down constantly with torn ulnar collateral ligaments. The rate at which Tommy John surgeries are being performed is alarming. Why have we never heard of a QB with a UCL injury that requires surgery?
I have theories, I'm unsure if I'm hitting the mark though. I don't think it has anything to do with volume. QBs throw hundreds of balls in practice throughout the week. With off days, running days, etc. for pitchers I would guess that QBs make a similar motion with their arms equal to or more than a relief pitcher in baseball.
Is it effort? A QB doesn't have to throw 95 mph on a screen pass or dump off. Pitchers have to do it every time. Could it be the curve ball thing? Is that extra leverage causing all the Tommy John's?
