My wife's car has crapped the bed and we are now in the market for a ride for her. We had planned to make the leap to Tesla, but are now looking for an another brand. Any suggestions or experiences from anyone here?

The Polestar 2 (Volvo) might be the leader in the clubhouse at the moment.

Things we are looking for in the car will be...

1. Decent range

2. Fast (The Polestar is 0-60 in 4.1)

3. Decent amount of room

Thanks in advance!

Rivian or Tesla, or I would just stick w gas.

Have owned a Tesla for 3 years and it’s easily the best car we’ve ever owned. Just so fun to drive and the Supercharger network means we take it everywhere. 0-60 in 3 seconds for less than $50k, plus another $7500 tax credit, and no maintenance or problems that many EV have.

But if you’re firmly in an anti-Tesla place, Rivian is the only EV I’ve driven that compares. Expensive but really awesome.

I might have reservations about putting my wife in something called Polestar….🤣

What’s your budget?

Have you looked into Mustang Mach E?

PS- what’s the knock against Tesla? It’s the best of the bunch from a pure car/service/maintenance standpoint.

Three of my friends have the Rivian SUV. It’s badass and they all love it (the longest owner right around a year).

I have a Kia EV6. It is the best car I have ever owned by far. It feels a lot roomier than the Polestar, which I rented one time. Highly recommend.

Tesla is the only way to go

I’ve had the EV9 since September and my wife and I love it. We have put almost 9K miles on it in 5 months.

I had a LEAF a decade ago and loved that too.

Get a charger in your garage and you’ll never want to go back to ICE

I have a cybertruck. And while its looks are questionable, I love it. Super fast and with charger at home I always start the day full tank and it’s a lot cheaper. But my biggest love is the Full service driving that’s only getting better. I just put in an address and go. Love it.

I have a friend who is much more knowledgeable than I who told me that Hyundai has done an excellent job in the EV space. If time and desire move you, you might want to look in that direction.

Have a friend who had a Tesla and loved it. Traded it in on a new Hummer EV and says he likes it better. Better range and quieter ride.

My parents have a Tesla Y. I’m very familiar with them and the entire Tesla system. I’m specifically asking about non-Tesla. TIA.

I’m genuinely curious why anyone would have range at the top of their list.

You’d have to be off your rocker buying an EV for anything besides a daily driver around town where you could simply plug in and charge at your house nightly.

Because it’s not hard at all to plan a 5-7 hour trip with an EV. You are already going to stop for snacks/gas/food/stretching anyway.

I get it if you are not a trip planner type person, but I am. It’s also cheaper.

Must be that I’m simply not a stopper on the road.

Point A to Point B, having to stop to charge (and hope the charger I planned for was available) would be the death of me on a road trip.

I think EV would be very practical around town, just hard for me to see the upside on road trips with my driving habits I guess.

Yep. I get it. It’s a different mindset for sure.
