I'm intensely disappointed that we didn't win. We really handled tech well at Turner Field over the years. I guess it doesn't count any more than the rest of them, but I very much wanted to win the last one over there. The fact that Stricklin is now 1-2 in that stadium galls me a little bit as well.
It was good to get Daniel Nichols back, and I was disappointed that he wasn't able to have a more productive night after he hit that huge HR there a year ago. I was surprised to see Keegan McGovern dropped all the way down to the 8 spot. Our lineup doesn't make a lot of sense and hasn't for awhile (although that was the first time Keegan has hit 8th).
Sure thought Mitchell Webb hit his ball out on the one to LF.... Missed it by a foot or so. Between that and all the base runners that we left out there last night.... watching the game it was hard to believe that we only scored 3 runs.
I thought our pitching decisions were generally sound. You can debate whether Kevin Smith should have pitched the 8th, but he wound up doing a nice job. Blake Cairnes was the right play. I began to notice in the 10th, before Gonzalez' home run, that Blake looked like he was having a lot of trouble getting the ball down. By that point, it's probably too late to get someone else ready.... I mean, the damage is going to get done before another guy has time to get loose. Those weren't cheap HRs either, that's for sure.

Disappointing over all. I hope that the team flushes this one faster than I do... I've been in a pretty bad mood about it all day. It's always been one of my favorite games of the year, going back to college in the mid 2000s, I've always had such a blast going over there. I guess it hit me today that it was it for UGA and tech at Turner. There won't be another game played there. Wish I could have taken some better memories from that last one.
