I dont even know what the political value of dropping that was. Ensures that Adams loses re-election. I guess it gives him the political cover to do more self-interested interfering with the DOJ because it maintains a veneer of bipartisan interest.
Speculation that Adams has the dirt on James and Bragg. And Trump wants blood. Imagine those 2 are squirming. Remember when James ran her campaign on targeting a citizen and taking them down. Not a peep from the left.
It’s relevant to point out that the Danielle Sassoon clerked with Antonin Scalia and was appointed by Trump only three weeks ago. Her resignation letter is worth a read.
So in the last week, Trump has had the DOJ dismantle the department focused on investigating and prosecuting foreign bribes of US politicians, pardoned convicted politician Rod Blagojavich and defended his pardons of the J6 felons by claiming they they were the victims of assault by our government and that the first responders were the guilty ones.
Yesterday, Trump explained that many Russian fought and died for that Ukrainian land, so they deserve to keep it.
Just wait until committed conspiracy theorist Kash Patel takes over the FBI. What’s happened so far is simply prep for the big show.
Those of you who voted for Trump but are now concerned about the rule of law, what did you think we were going to get from Trump? Trump is doing exactly what he said he was going to do and every important cabinet appointment other than State has been open about the plans.
Oh, and we are going to get hammered with higher prices across the board thanks to the tariff war that Trump promised and is executing, so the systematic destruction of the rule of law isn’t even going to get you cheaper eggs.

Cases are dropped all the time for political reasons or due to the usefulness of the accused. The bottom line is our political class is full of junketeers and even though discounted travel and questionable campaign contributions are present in this case, the personal payoff to Adams seems really weak to bring a corruption case. It looks to me like the way Adams was playing politics is pretty standard stuff for pols in his position. Since nobody found gold bars in a safe, hundreds of thousands in bank accounts and exotic cars provided by donors, this looks like a case that called for a modest fine and a return of questionable campaign contributions. This doesn't look like a case that should carry a felony conviction and multiple yrs behind bars based on the severity of the violations when compared to people like O.
Totally agree. I have no issue with the buck stopping with Trump. But after three weeks, that would be convenient to blame the last four years on three weeks of Trump right. A year from now. He has had time to do things to turn it around.

When his platform called for addressing inflation on day one and he has yet to do anything about it, it does become his problem. His entire campaign was centered around it. Swing voters voted for him because of it. Not because of "it's going to get worse before it gets better". He said "day 1".

My quick take on this is Trump's team needed a major City Mayor to get on board to rounding up criminal illegal aliens and the Mayor of NY was more than willing if his charges were dropped. Yes, a quid pro quo, one that hopefully benefits the citizens of New York. Deals like this are made all the time, yes they smell but it is what it is. He is no different than 90% of the other major city mayors (See City of Atlanta) There are going to be some major roundups over the next month or so. You will have the City of NY and the Mayor supporting this roundup with the Governor and NY Senators/Congressmen opposed. In a year if NY City has moved the needle of safety and a City like Chicago has not, then Trump gets a big win. We shall see.
On his first day he signed an XO directing his cabinet to use all powers to lower inflation.
Enacted a Fed hiring freeze.
Enacted a foreign aid freeze
Enacted a regulation freeze
Released DOGE to find wasteful spending.
Since he has:
Signed XOs to increase fuel production
Signed XOs to remove dumbass regs on appliances
Signed XOs to remove the EV mandates
Of course he's failed to walk on water and bring 100 mil laying hens back to life or get a handle on inflation in Jan when Biden's surrogates ran the show for 2/3s of the month and offset the historical raising of prices on Jan 1.

I have no issues with Sassoon and assume that the Mayor is guilty as was the previous Mayor of Atlanta when he rebid all the Atlanta Airport concession contracts. An unsavory deal was made, one Sassoon didn't like, but one the Justice Department did. Hopefully an UNSAVORY deal that benefits the safety and citizens of New York. I assume it will if hundreds of criminal aliens are rounded up and rest go into hiding. Thats a big deal, hopefully bigger than jailing a Mayor for corruption.

I shared a video of Trump telling the country that the people who we all watched live as they attacked and injured over 120 LEOs during their effort to stop certification didn't attack anyone and were the real victims on that day. He didn't suggest that, he stated it in extremely clear language. Lies and propaganda.
The pardons and everything Trump has said on the topic, including this latest affront to truth and our own eyes, prove beyond any doubt that Trump fully supported the attack. Why else would he feel compelled to tell such obvious lies?
This is what I've always said, and what you have always denied. Why does it matter? Because someone willing to use violence to achieve political ends once is surely willing to do it again. Someone who feels they are above the law in any scenario feels they are above the law in every scenario. And now Trump has surrounded himself with the people who will enable his lawlessness instead of working to curb it.

There is no constitutional issue to having charges dropped for someone you may use for something else. It is a normal discretion. Do you know how many times the Dems have done this over the years? Actually, I encouraged the GOP to launch a formal impeachment process, and I said that many, many times. If you see that as a proclamation of innocence instead of respect for the rule of law, so be it.
You sidestepped the rest of my post beyond saying that ultimately, anything Trump does is justified as payback, which is where you always end up despite the tepid exclamations of mild discomfort.
Regarding the pardons, Trump has vowed retribution, and his FBI nominee has very explicitly vowed retribution and the AG is clearly going to do whatever Trump instructs her to. This is what to expect when the POTUS has a proven disdain for the rule of law, which I've detailed in this thread and many others, and which Trump has confirmed already many times here in the first month of his second term. There is nothing stopping the House and Senate, both controlled by the GOP, from hauling the entire Biden clan before a committee and under oath to answer questions.
Of course, that likely won't happen for the exact same reasons that the GOP never launched a formal impeachment process. When you can't make your case, it's far more politically expedient to just keep lobbing accusations than it is to get people under oath and in front of the public.
