Hopefully the OP doesn't mind me reposting here
Joe T started the first game of the year (the first game of Staff's career). All 3 QB's (including Cox) played.
Joe T started the SC game and got hurt in the 1st quarter. Staff came on to complete a scintillating 8 of 19 passes with 3 int's.
Staff started against UAB, then had to be benched against Colorado because he sucked so bad. Cox led us to a comeback victory.
Against Ole Miss, Cox stunk it up and Staff relieved him and continued to suck (7-18 for 91 yards).
Joe T got well and stared the UT game (and why not after we had seen that neither Cox or Staff were ready). Special teams were a disaster and we blew the game in spite of Joe T playing respectably.
Against Vandy, Staff & Joe T got even playing time, both sucked and we lost.
Staff started against MSU and the light came on briefly (and the starting job was his for good). He went 20-32 for 267.
Then Florida came along made Staff look like a rookie again (13-33, two ints).
Staff stunk it up again against UK (3 ints) and we lost.
Then the light came on for good (the glorious AU/GT/Peach Bowl finish) and the rest is history.
At what point in any of this, would have playing Staff any more than he did (which is most of the time) should things have been handled any differently?
And what games would we have won because of how we used the QB's? Not a damn one.
So having read all of this, why do people think it would be a good idea to start Eason as a true freshman? Stafford, a number one pick in the draft and once in a blue moon recruit sucked it up for most of the season with a spring under his belt, so why would we want to try that? Why wouldn't we just develop players like FSU did at the QB position when they were rolling and redhshirt guys and let them wait their turn no matter how good they are. Aren't we trying to make a run here for a few years while FL and Tenn are down? Aren't we trying to be the best each year? Are we really going to be that great with a Freshman who knows nothing when we have talent that knows the offense? Also, we would be breaking in a new line as well Easons freshman year, while it would be talented why would you want to go all young?
Just a thought. I also feel like a few things point to Faton Bauta winning the job but we will see how it plays out. I still think that Park has the most talent.
THoughts?
