Obligatory "who should be the HC targets" post*

Just another example of the tail wagging the dog.(no pun intended).Booster's are ruining cfb.

His style is similar to Okl and Ole Smiss...which gives Ala fits...

True. In reality, the question is should UGA build a team to compete with a Bama that may not be "Bama" much longer, or a team that can compete across the board? I'd rather see a coach that can develop talent, game plans and a culture of winning more than anything else.

Someone has to do it since the AD doesn't seem to give a shat about putting a competitive team on the field. This should've happened after he blew all of the talent he had in 2007.

I dunno but I'll bet 3 names get tossed around a lot: Dan Mullen based on his relationship with our AD. Kirby Smart because of his UGA background. Chip Kelly because if he gets pushed out at Philadelphia, he will be the hottest commodity out there

I sure hope we already have a good idea of who we want and some indication of mutual interest. Otherwise we could wind up with a second or third choice default candidate who takes us backward rather than forward. It's happened before in Athens. Think Goff or Donnan. Both were second or third choices.

So football scoop is saying this. Honestly I would be pretty disappointed if this is the mindset of Mcgarrity:

"I’d be pretty surprised if the new head coach at Georgia isn’t Kirby Smart, Dan Mullen or Jimbo Fisher"

They're throwing sh*t at all wall to see what sticks. They don't have a clue. However, I'm not sure I'd want Jimbo Fisher. He's too much of a cutthroat who is lax on discipline. The SEC is also a different beast than the ACC, which is a joke. Dan Mullen I'm not sure about either. As for Kirby, he's a gamble. He can recruit his ass off and he may keep Pruitt which would be a plus. However, he can either be a homerun or a dud. Do we really need to take a gamble?

So I guess Richt is coaching the bowl because our target is busy somewhere else and not available? Do you guys think that the announcement will drag out until after the championship game is played? Is Mcgarrity going to hire an outside firm and let them bring candidates in? Just curious how long this will play out and if this was more about making a change or about bringing someone specific in.

Typical Smart...I say no on KS...he might be a dud...go after Chip Kelley first

Just about anyone is a gamble. We could hire a big name guy and he not work out. Donnan at the time was thought to be a good hire because of what he did at Marshall. Didn't work out that way. There is a risk with Smart, Mullen or Herman. Heck, there's even a risk with Jimbo Fisher. It's far easier to win at a high level in the ACC than it is in the SEC.
