i was on the vent for about 4 months in 2001. The guys running it loved me. They gave me a free premium subscription. Then 9/11 happened. When I finally got home from Vegas on 9/14 I posted that we acted like cowards by shutting down the country for three days. I posted that Americans should be able to handle themselves. I had come home to ATL on the first flight out of McCarron when commercial traffic resumed. On my way to my seat, I passed an Arab in his seat. I stopped and stared at him for about two minutes. The message was clear. "You fukking sneeze and yer dead". That's American. Or used to be. Anyway vent banned me for saying we acted like pussies and I never went back.
The chat was the vent in 2001. It was free. It took awhile for the pay vent to take off. Then this was renamed the chat. No one paid to post on the vent in 2001 because this was the vent.
They had some sort of paid subscription. It may have been for recruiting service access. It was 17 years ago. All I remember is some fukker named "groo", and getting an email that I had been upgraded from the free membership to whatever the fukk people paid for. Asshole.
