Is that they have perfected the art of holding. Both their OL and their DBs. They are professional holders. I know, water is wet.
Their DBs are very talented, and they will play good technique, but they are very “grabby”, from release through ball arrival. And they often don’t get caught. They know just how far to push it with the refs without getting flagged on every pass attempt. And when they are beat, they are willing to shamelessly tackle the receiver, even before the ball arrives. Giving up 15 yards for DPI is always better than a TD. Remember our last drive in the 2021 natty? They will mug you if need be, going downfield.
Their OL has been holding forever. I don’t need to elaborate on this too much. Again, they play along the grey area, just a tad less than what is so blatant as to draw a flag on almost every play. If we can’t get off of blocks at certain points, just watch what Bama’s OL is up to.
I expect the officials will “let them play” tomorrow. This isn’t some ACC crew. Only physical assault will draw post-snap fouls. Something to keep an eye on.
