UGA athletics seems to always be consistently behind the curve in just about everything. Below is money that schools can now give athletes in addition to their full scholarship award. No surprise here:

COA breakdown for the SEC

  1. Tennessee $5,666 or $629 per month 9 months
  2. Auburn $5,586
  3. Mississippi State $5,126
  4. Ole Miss $4,500
  5. South Carolina $4,151
  6. Arkansas $4,002
  7. Missouri $3,664
  8. Florida $3,320
  9. LSU $3,096
  10. Alabama $2,892
  11. Vanderbilt $2,780
  12. Texas A&M $2,706
  13. Georgia $2,598 or $288 per month 9 months
  14. Kentucky $2,284

If you are gonna come here and talk smack, at least get your story right. UGA COA is now $3,200 for in state and $3,700 out of state.

Get your story right then come back. Otherwise, you look foolish.

Remember, Google can be your friend.

Sober up and try to post to the correct place next time

Only Vanderbilt should have a stipend higher than the other schools. But honestly, they should all be the same.

Our AD is run by mouth breathing, buffoons.

This should have been resolved last spring at The NCAA annual meeting.
I called and emailed everybody I thought might be in position to lobby at the meeting. I was shocked they didn't come up with an equal stipend for all P5 schools.
It seems obvious $400.00 more in cash every month will be a huge tool for Tenn and Auburn on the recruiting trail. I expect Bama will make the difference up under the table, but UGA could be in trouble.

He copied from the AJC article up today, they obviously looked at the old data and missed where We revised upward this past summer. There is still a huge gap that has to be addressed soon of We're fighting an uphill battle.

I have a simple question? Can UGA set CoA at any level they want up to a certain limit, or are they limited based on certain criteria? I haven't been following this at all.

This is telling as it does not take a genius to figure out when initially setting the number that we needed to be on the high side to recruit.

Only a fool would not realize that.

The numbers were sent to The NCAA long before this issue was front burner. Still, McGarity and others clearly missed the bus in anticipating these stipends becoming a reality, they'd been batted around for years.
As for criteria, it's a hodgepodge according to what I've read. Every school presents their own accounting with only basic outlines mandated from The NCAA.
My push last year was to have an equal amount in cash stipend for all P5 schools and work the rest out through non-cash adjustments. Again, I was shocked UGA, Bama and many other powerful players didn't band together and demand this last spring.
