After all of the design changes and talk of a one of a kind development that represents the region's uniqueness. What they ended up doing is building a standard issue MLB park and surrounding it with the typical perimeter development. Drive around I-285 or Ga-400 and You'll see a dozen or so developments like this. There is nothing at all unique or southern about it as far as I can see.

It's not bad, it's just nothing special in My opinion, they missed a great opportunity to REALLY step outside the usual and create something one of a kind, I'm disappointed.

They turned it over to the same people who built all of the other bland perimeter developments, and it shows. People will drive past without taking note, other than maybe wondering what the stadium lights are for.

It does show if your going to spend this kind of money turn it over to premier devloper not local.

They DID turn it over to developers.
That is why it looks like every cookie cutter development around every US City.

Both The Falcons and Braves used The KC company that has built most of the sports' stadiums in recent years. They designed and built Camden Yards in Baltimore, the first of the neo-classic early 20th century designs. They have been the dominant player in stadium construction since.
The surrounding development was turned over to regular commercial developers though. That is where the plan went from inspired to run of the mill bean counters taking charge.
In the end, safe won, creative lost.

According to reports...the traffic flow and foot flow is gonna be a mess moving in and out of the area...I won't be attending as I haven't attended a game in years anyway...

We used to get to 6 or 7 games a year on average. The past few seasons it's dropped to a couple. We'll definitely take in 2 or 3 at the new stadium in 2017.
We used to park at a north side train station. ride the train, then shuttle to The Ted.

I'll take the tour of Benz Stadium as soon as it's finished. I'll definitely take in a few games as well. I think Blank is building the top football stadium in the world.

The Dome is still a top venue, I hate the waste.

Exactly why not upgrade it .

It may not be a top venue, but there isn't anything wrong with it. It is a pretty good place to watch a football game in my opinion, and we could have gotten another 20 years out of it at least. The development authorities con the city's taxpayers into thinking that these stadiums are free because they get paid for by the hotel motel tax. And nobody apparently stops to think about the fact that if you didn't build the new stadium, you'd still have all that hotel motel tax revenue to spend on other things or rebate to the citizens.

It is a complete waste that we are rebuilding stadiums for both major teams when there isn't anything wrong with what we have.

I'm pissed about the new baseball stadium - they picked possible the most congested section of town to build this new venue without upgrading the infrastructure. 285 is already a parking lot coming around the north end, and now we are just going to add to that. 41 during rush hour traffic is a complete parking lot, 75 north is a complete parking lot. As a Cobb County resident, I can honestly say this was probably the stupidest idea anyone in Cobb County government has ever had.

Heck The Ted was built to last 100 years. Brick and concrete makes for durable structures. The money spent on The Cobb project could have made a real difference to the slums in that area and actually improved the lives of residents.
