And he hit on many conservative principles to loud cheers and applause: repealing Obamacare, abolishing the IRS, establishing a flat tax, securing Second Amendment rights, protecting the border, doing away with "every word of Common Core," defending "the sanctity of human life," upholding "the sacrament of marriage," and standing "unapologetically" with Israel. In a windup to his announcement, he asked the students to "imagine a president" who would uphold these conservative values. As he paced the stage, it appeared he was reciting his speech from memory, without a teleprompter or notes.

Why did he announce in Virginia and not Texas where he is from?

Also I haven't read much about it, but I know he was born in Canada, not that that has stopped other presidents.

Liberty is a very conservative university. I guess he was

steeled to speak there at announcement time.

Don't doubt that, I didn't see the speech, just read it on Drudge

Dems will continue to get 94% of the black votes regardless. One day they may learn.

Mother was a U.S. citizen working in Canada. He is a U.S. citizen

you know, not that it has stopped other presidents.

"One day they may learn.".....no....no they wont....

watched a documentary on the 92(?) LA Riots the other night... it was interviewing those involved back then as theyre now in their 40s etc... so no .....no they will never "learn". IMO of corse.

Unemployment rate among blacks is at about 17%. More were employed

under republicans. They get used by dems but I see your point.

Poor people have been voting democratic for a century and they

are still poor. You think they would change it up and try the Pubs for a few years.

"40 acres and a mule, because we're your friends. And you're...

....going to become voters...and you're going to vote like your friends vote."

Good lawyers don't need teleprompters.*

GA State coach said Barack doing great job. Zero.mistakes

Except for picking against GA State in tournament.

GA State basketball coach very happy with 17% black unemployment and 50% young black male unemployment. Added that he doesn't really care about political "crap." Just knows Barack is doing a great job.

Then he begged Barack to get the Secret Service and IRS agents off him, and said he was sorry for saying anything bad about him. Said he's gotten thousands of emails from people defending the Prez.

Ronald Reagan was unelectable, too. Too radical

Nobody likes conservative principles.
Reagan's free market, tax reducing economic policies were called "Voodoo Economics" by Republicans and even by his own budget director.

Freedom and Constitution are loser topics with Americans. Let's "go to the middle" again. That's worked so well.

That's what Gerald Ford said about Ronald Reagan. The fact is...

whether a person is electable boils down to how they fare in the primaries.

Guys like Gary Anderson and John Huntsman and Newt Gingrich were unelectable because you knew their support would never break the double digits.

Cruz on the other hand will be in it until the end. Electability has more to with who can get their supporters to come out. A lot of solid conservative voters stayed home in 08 and 12.

Daddy Bush said it loudest while Reagan kicked his ass

Daddy Bush invented the phrase "Voodoo Economics."

I think getting the nomination would be harder than winning

the election. Conservatives have been waiting since Reagan to turn out in full force.
