Please Explain Point and Star System for Team Rankings

I've wondered about this for years.

So let's say there are 30 5 star kids. How many points does the number 1 kid get vs. The number 2 and so on.

When you get to 4 star kids there are seemingly 100s of these kids so how do the points work there?

Also, do they only use the first or highest ranked 20 kids in the calculation?
