Michael Penix Jr has serious injury concerns which scared off most NFL teams. He tore his ACL in his right knee twice. He dislocated and fractured his right shoulder and tore the same shoulder’s AC joint. All 4 injuries were season ending. McCarthy has great mobility and a very strong arm, but he did not get the opportunity to sling it at Michigan so his passing is more of an unknown commodity. He averaged just 22 attempts per game last year compared to 37 attempts per game for Penix. I don’t think I would have taken the chance on Penix’s health.
