Predictions for the playoff

On Tuesday, I think the CFP rankings will look like this.
  1. Oregon (12-0)
  2. Texas (11-1)
  3. Penn State (11-1)
  4. Notre Dame (11-1)
  5. Georgia (10-2)
  6. Ohio State (10-2)
  7. Tennessee (10-2)
  8. SMU (11-1)
  9. Indiana (11-1)
  10. Boise State (11-1)
  11. Miami (10-2)
  12. Alabama (9-3)
  13. Arizona State (10-2)
  14. Ole Miss (9-3)
  15. South Carolina (9-3)
If this is correct, Bama is the first team out and unlikely to get in the final seeding.

They won’t pass the loser of the Big 10 or SEC title games. The ACC winner (SMU or Clemson) will automatically be ahead of them. The Big 12 champ will automatically jump over them. Even if Boise loses, another G5 team will automatically jump them.

The crucial question is Miami (9-2) vs Alabama (10-3). I think the committee will favor Miami, because they don’t want a three-loss team. If I’m wrong, it will be because they favored Bama’s strength of schedule and record.

Note: I’m slotting OSU at #6 because their schedule doesn’t compare favorably with Georgia’s but it does with Tennessee’s.
