For the past several weeks we've had birds flying into the windows in the sunroom. Not slamming into them, but fluttering on them like they're trying to get in. They'll rest on the sill and start all over again.
Thursday, we had to go to Lanner to check on my mom. Before we left, I heard a fluttering in the fireplace. Told Wifey that one was stuck in the fireplace. I opened the flue and fireplace doors but nothing flew out. I didn't have time to mess with it so I left it all open so it might get into the house and not die in the fireplace and stink the place up.
Well, got home Sat night and walked into the living room. Heard all kinds of racket that skeert the mess out of me. Took a second to realize whatever was in the fireplace had gotten out while we were gone.
Turned on the light to find a nearly full-grown Wood Duck in the corner. I opened the front door but he didn't have enough sense to fly out. I finally cornered him by the stairs and was able to grab him. He seemed pretty calm, so I handed him to Wifey for a photo op. She took him outside and set him down. He just waddled off into the dark.
Started looking and found that he had checked out every sq inch of the house as was obvious from the duck poopage everywhere...and I mean everywhere.
