Bobby Knight (Indiana) used to say that in any game he played against Dale Brown (LSU) that was close in the final few minutes, he would win because he was a better coach than Brown. There's a lot of truth in that concept - coaches have a predictability (track record) about the outcome of close games. How many times in the past 3 years has the post-game interview with Stricklin included the comment that "we could have won that game - we had the tieing run on base/at bat/ in the on-deck circle". Once again, the message is: I did my job, that particular player didn't come through.
