Pull the plug on EV's

I am good with EV’s & new technology - alt fuels, etc. just don’t think there should be mandates, etc. we will adjust as conditions evolve. We
My problem with EVs is they aren't the long term solution. We're flushing huge amounts of money into a technology that's going to cause as many problems as it solves.

A business dependent on subsidies and customer tax credits will fold in a free market. And lithium mining is no better for the environment than strip mining for coal.

Last minute lame duck pardons and lame duck pork barrel projects are very important to help the outgoing admin fund their retirement package and to create a trust fund for their posterity,....

Biden is on a spending spree before his term expires. Here's another $6.6 billion down the drain.

Subsidizing and promoting any electric car company that isn't named Tesla.

Remember when Biden hosted an EV Summit and didn't invite the world leader in EV's? I 'member.

Rivian is expected to hit their target of 52K delivered units this year. Tesla is going to be around 1.8 million.

It's def not "down the drain" lol. I like this loan. Going electric is something that is bi-partisan. Even if you still don't believe that carbon emissions are warming the planet (eye roll) you could not possibly like buying oil from SAudi Arabia. We are funding people who produced the 9/11 terrorists.

Also, industrially, we are getting lapped by China in so many areas. Solar and EVs are just one of them. Rivian is a legit competitor to Tesla (who also took billions in gov't loans) and they need this to get manufacturing rolling. We need a certain amount of critical mass in this industry to keep it healthy and this loan will get that rolling.

This also benefits Georgia specifically. Also, Brian Kemp is a huge fan of this and this pits him against Trump again.

Rivian is not "dependent" on gov't subsidizes. It literally says in the article that they could have gotten the funding from other sources. But the American gov't should want to help American companies when they are young and starting whole new industries. It worked out pretty well for Tesla (and the enormous list of technologies started with support from Uncle Sam that private companies built off of years later (GPS, the internet, EVs, etc.))

This loan helps:
GA - a red state
Brian Kemp - a republican governor
Trump: GA / US based manufacturing jobs that will start in 2025 and beyond

This does nothing to help Biden or his term which ends in 7 weeks.

Tesla received a Department of Energy loan of $465 million in 2010. They paid it off 9 years early, and the government hit them with an early repayment penalty. In contrast, the US government lost $11.2 billion in its bailout of General Motors, who, according to Joe Biden, "is leading the electric vehicle revolution." GM will deliver less than a tenth of Tesla's volume this year.

Tesla built a battery production and recycling facility in Germany. The company turned down a government subsidy of $1.2 billion for the Berlin Gigabit factory.

That’s my point. They didn’t need tax dollars but Biden added 6. 6 billion to the deficit anyway. Trump won because of this kind of nonsense.
