- I believe the QB race will go at least into the first game and maybe even the second. Luckily we play ULM and Vanderbilt before we play SC. That will give us time to sort it out.
- We are the deepest at LB ever at UGA - Lo Carter (a star, top 5 to 10 pick), Floyd (pretty good himself, 1st rd pick), Jenkins, PATRICK (he looked really, really good to be just a freshman), Amechi (also looked really good and fast), R.Carter, Kimbrough, Ganus, Bellamy, K.Brown, R.Smith, D.Walker (watch his film when you get a chance).
- With all those solid LBs and DBs, that means we will have great coverage teams. Maybe CM32 can get his punting right. I think he will be OK. While the punts looked bad, Barber was actually OK. He was just punting for the red team. The white team punter wasn't so hot.
- The second string OL, yikes! I see now why we moved Galliard. I also see why we moved Kublanow to second string center. The OTs didn't look very good either, and I know one is a scholarship player in his third year.
- With that, Wynn looked pretty good at Center. Outside of the bad snap, he was ok. There was another bad snap, but at least it was low - give the guy a chance.
- I think our DL will be good enough. We just do not need injuries. Mayes will be fine at NG, and Bailey has played many snaps for us.
- I think we will be OK at WR. We are so good at running the football, our identity is not gonna be 4 and 5 wide. If we go 4 wide, 2 of the guys are likely to be TEs (Jeb and Rome or J.Davis, who looked really good). JSW and MM will be good. IM16 looked good til he got hurt, Davis made some plays, and guys like Tibbs and S.Williams will have to step up.
- We will be fine at DB. CJP made it work last year, he certainly will this year. We have Sanders, Mauger, and Parrish that seem solidified as starters, and we have plenty of highly touted guys to choose from for the other spots. Our pass rush will be so good it will make the DBs job that much easier.
- It is time to welcome AJ Turman to the big boy table. I know many wrote him off, but with some of our RBs being as oft injured as they are, I think he will get his chance (probably ahead of BD22, imo).
- I know our offense was very vanilla for GDay, but we used MUCH more presnap motion than in years past. That can help the QBs, confuse the defense a little, make the D show their hand whether it is man or zone.
- I want to pull my hair out when we run a read option play when there is no threat of the QB running the ball. Either let the QB run the ball, or scrap the play.
- I was not that impressed with our new transfer walk on. I know he was playing with the 2nd unit so it is hard to tell if the DL slanted the wrong way and they both ended up with the same gap or what, but there were several times he got caught up in the wash and was out the play. Good depth player and I am glad we were able to get him (especially with us not knowing Patrick could play MLB or that we would get Ro Smith), but I think he will be the 5th MLB.
- Overall we can be very very good if the right things fall into place. We just need to get the QB situation figured out and hope to stay relatively healthy.
