Dr. Dan, I need a mental health counseling session on your couch. I may need you to write me a prescription for anti-depressants. You gotta talk me down from the ledge once again before I jump.

The trigger for this most recent bout of black (and red) suicidal thoughts is a national story about Jamie Lewis written by Rival's finest writer three days ago. The silky smooth 2018 Lewis is my favorite young guard in the state on account of his leading his 16U Ga Stars team to a Peach Jam championship a year ago and following that up by commanding his Westlake team to a state championship.

As Ricky Ricardo would demand of Lucy, Coach Fox "has some splainin' to do !" How can our Bulldogs not be showering Lewis with affection and attention?

You wrote last January that we were in hot pursuit and gaining traction on Lewis. What happened? Has Fox sworn off recruiting Ga Stars and Westlake players after he was recently spurned by 2017 Chuma Okeke? Lewis now fails to list us as one of the four schools showing him the most interest, namely Auburn, Baylor, Tech and UConn. We didn't even rate a mention this week as being among the other schools like Cal, Fla and Kansas who have also been involved with him.

Jamie has every skill a coach could want in a lead guard. He can score from outside, midrange and by slashing. His leadership quotient is way up there. He's as unselfish as Mother Teresa. His vision is superb. He passes and handles the ball as smoothly as a juggler in the Cirque du Soleil. He wins basketball games.

But best of all for Fox, Lewis has some natural weaknesses that may prevent him from ever becoming a 5-star prospect who gets pursued by all the powerhouse programs. He is slight of build, possesses only average upper body strength, and lacks elite athleticism. Were Lewis to have those attributes, he would be out of our reach and Fox would be justified in passing him over to let Kansas, Ky, UVA, or UConn steal him away as they would inevitably do.

If we speed up our tempo and if we make some noise in the SEC and NCAA tourney this season, we should be able to win Lewis' attention. He is a well-rounded combo-guard with decent height at 6'2" -- exactly the type of versatile guard Fox falls in love with. Fox does not value the distributor type of pass first point guard.

So Dr. Dan - what's your diagnosis? Am I a delusional paranoid or is it Fox who needs therapy because he hears imaginary voices inside his head telling him to overlook Lewis?

Or are there other logical factors at play that predispose Fox not to pursue Lewis harder? Does the family resent Fox for not having offered Jamie's older brother who is a much better fit as a freshman down at mid-major UCF?

Only one piece of info would prevent me from jumping off my ledge as I watch yet another of my favorite Atlanta prospects waive goodbye to UGA. Please tell me that Jonas and Fox are so sure that 2018 Pebblebrook pg Drue Drinan is coming to Athens that they elected to back off from recruiting Lewis.
