Their starters were 14-28 from 3 (reserves we're 0-3). They had almost a 1 to 1 assist to turnover ration and got beat on the boards very handily, 54-35.
It won't be a big test, like Bryant wasn't, but good for 3pt D. I would like to see a bit more aggressive press... The one we ran seemed to be more of a slow down trap than out and out press, but I love our athleticism, so l would like to see us practice a real press... Something we haven't ever had any particular skill with under CMF, but probably didn't have the horses to run a real 2-man trap or full-court press... I think we do now.
Another interesting tidbit I heard 2nd hand from a UGA assistant who was reviewing tape on the USC Upstate v Minnesota game, and our assistant says we are deeper and better than #15 Minnesota. I want our assistants to believe in our team, obviously, but until we beat Top 25 teams, we are not a top 25 team. And we don't play one unless we get St. Marys in the Wooden. And they kicked our butt two years ago in the prestigious NIT.
Until then... We are a good team in search of a big win. So beat these small teams.
