Racism doesn’t pay

That is a great job. You work something like 4 hours a day, and spend the other 4 decompressing. I’ve been up in the old ATL ATC twice. FYI that thing was like a submarine up there. Had to go on the catwalk. Scary as hell to get out there, but cool to see the planes taking off below you.

Looking at some of the info this morning it does appear that staffing issues may well have played a part in not catching the potential collision before it happened. I guess Trump had some of this info right after the crash; but that was a horrible way to present it. Be interesting to see what comes out on a Blackhawk flying outside its flight plan in a heavily congested area.

He was likely correct to say DEI was the problem, just not in the way anyone thought (or at least in the way I interpreted the comment). To your point, that was not the way to present it.

I retired before DEI came along, but I was in management when affirmative action started.

Affirmative action was presented to us a tool of preferential hiring to bring in minorities into entry level positions in the workforce and get them the necessary training and experience to be able to move up in the organization. While it made me a little uncomfortable to do what seemed like reverse discrimination to take care of a problem, at the time we were getting some very capable folks.

This went along fine for a few years and then politics reared it's ugly head. First came being given hard targets of minorities that must be hired, and then came the requirement of bringing people into journeyman level and senior level positions to meet goals. When the demand came to do the journeyman and senior level positions the alarm went off that some dangerous situations could be coming in an organization that did fire control and law enforcement work among many others. We ended up with some close calls but fortunately at the time had enough experienced people that monitored everything and could temper any bad decisions. None of this was due to bad people, there is just some work out there that takes on the ground experience to go along with education to be effective and safe.

If DEI was forcing people into positions such as ATC, law enforcement, fire control, 911 dispatchers that did not have the experience to be effective then sooner or later something bad was going to happen when you have seconds to make life or death decisions. Also if the towers were short handed because there was no interest from these certain groups in that type of work , then this most certainly could be a major safety issue in a hurry.

Here locally our Sheriff's and Police Departments had to back out of some DEI grants that had requirements for numbers of minorities ( including transgender ) to be hired even if there were none of certain classes living within 40 miles. Also in relation to curriculum at schools we ran into the same thing with some grants with DEI requirements to teach things like critical race theory in junior high and high schooland gender identity and sexual orientation in elementary school.

At first, I thought Trump was jumping to conclusions on the DEI factor in the DC crash. But then I read the backstory about the 1000 ATC's that were denied the opporutnity because the Obama administration thought they were too white. They have currently filed a law suit.

What I want to know is why any mainstream media choosing to ignore this story? Did Eric Holder and Obama have anything to do with the decision and telling these applicants they were too white. Also, since there were many white people on board the plane that died, and the Obamas and Holder, et. al. have fought for racial justice through hiring decisions for ATCs (and other positions), it begs some of the following questions. Has this incident done anything to satisfy their lust for vengence or atone for any of the sins this country has incurred (in their opinion)? If they made the decisions where this scenario was possible, I think they owe us an answer of some sort. If not recent events have not made a dent in that lust, how many more white people do we need to sacrifce at the DEI altar?

But why focus on people OUT of political power? Senator Warnock has been known to start a government grant or two that denied help to white farmers in South Georgia due to recompense for past racial wrongs (which by the way, is completely illegal, but WGAS mainstream media, right?). I'm just curious if or when the Senator found out about the numerous dead caucaisnas at the hands of negligent DEI hires if he gave a little fist pump in satisfaction? Did their deaths satisfy any lust for vengnece in the good reverend's heart?

The way the media are portraying this administration’s blame on DEI is they are saying Trump is blaming the controllers in the tower. But that is the furthest from what he and others are saying, which is DEI standards have done those controllers no service in that it has prevented the hiring of hundreds of qualified applicants, which could have alleviated the strain these controllers are dealing with.

And race isn’t the issue. It’s gender, physical handicap, and mental health status. Everyone wants to make DEI about race, but that’s only part of it. Hiring should be about merit. Period. Except for transgender people, who are dealing with serious mental and psychological health issues. They have no business working in careers that impact life and death.

The fact of the matter is the many people who could have made a difference in this tragedy were denied a job because of their skin color. Now that we have seen the consequences first hand, someone who influenced that hiring policy deserves a microphone in their face.

Thank God I was gone before Obama. That was the most ridiculous POS there ever was for gutting effective organizations in the name of racial advancement. We had many situations where people who were ( for instance) social counselors given preferential hiring for jobs such as fuels specialist or Investigators for Law Enforcement.

Besides getting ate up with corruption from the Obama administration, the FBI was gutted like a big fat hog of any agents that were not all on board with his agenda. I find it humorous that individuals are blasting Trump for reshaping organizations but they were all on board for the Obama guttings.

Oh, do tell.

"The FAA stated that those trained under the program would receive the same "rigorous consideration" in terms of aptitude, medical, and security qualifications as those doing standard air traffic controller job applications."

So, Trump started a program to target disabled people so they could be trained to meet the same "rigorous consideration". I haven't heard anyone say minority and disabled candidates should be disqualified, only that they should be able to meet the same standards.

Iows, if a person in the infantry is expected to carry a 50 lb pack on a 1 week hike into the mountains, all infantry personnel should be able to carry the 50 lb pack regardless of their demographic. The O DEI policy that Trump rescinded, Biden revived and Trump is again rescinding was an attempt to reduce the number of QUALIFIED candidates based on their race.

So, Trump believes a person in a wheel chair should be hired as a ACT if they can perform the task and their disability that doesn't affect job performance should be accommodated. O and Biden believed a shortage of 1/3 ACTs was acceptable as long as the ratio in the tower was in line with their political beliefs. See the difference. Trump was actually making staffing to the desired level more likely. O and Biden were making it near impossible.

Can’t wait to hear his reply?
