Media (deep state) says he is bad and that is what people go with, IMO. When both parties don't like the pick that should be the only tell needed.
I'm all for hardball but I'm not for playing games that are doomed to backfire. Support him or not, Gaetz doesn't enjoy a sterling reputation with either side. Trump needs someone that goes after crimes but also is respected by folks on both sides.

if he doesn’t work out for the USA and Trump, can’t Trump fire/replace him🤷♂️? Playing games would be not putting in who the president nominates after winning the majority of America’s votes. Who coined the elections have consequences, Barack wasn’t it? Many thinks Gaetz is better than what Obama and Biden put in there…time will tell if the swamp doesn’t stop it.
It's playing games because Gaetz isn't respected by a good number of senate Pubs and his confirmation isn't likely and even if he somehow gets confirmed will use a lot of political capital. Next, DC is in need of a cleansing and Trump has a great opportunity to make some things happen. Imo, he could have found a more respected AG that wouldn't have been an easy target for political prosecution charges if they do find a crime committed by a Dem. Gaetz is in my opinion someone that is going to make draining the swap harder for several reasons. Ted Cruz would have been a more capable AG and seen as less partisan.
Would just think Trump would have picked someone with a little more experience. I was thinking that the bald headed guy, can’t think of his name, would be a better pick. He was the acting ag after Barr left last time. Thought he did a pretty good job.
Jeffrey Rosen was acting AG after Barr. He is not a strong presence at all. Also has zero prosecution experience. You might be thinking of someone else.
I think Gaetz was picked to get him out of the House so that he wouldn't go after Mike Johnson's speaker seat and it avoids the congressional investigation. Also, he's on board with the agenda to reel in bureaucrats.
AFAIC, you couldn't ask for a worse AG than Merrick Garland or Eric Holder. I would have liked to have seen Ted Cruz as AG; makes more sense. A lot of machinations going on; Trump's not taking chances this time around.

It has nothing to do with pushing Gaetz off his spot and preventing him from giving Mike Johnson the same treatment given to Kevin McCarthy.
Trump has a mandate and he won the election convincingly, in spite of a few cherry-picking Democrats and Never Trumpers who are saying, "Well if Harris had done this the race could have been completely different".
She got her bony back side handed to her and she was never going to beat Trump.
The Republican Party belongs to Donald Trump at this moment. He doesn't need Matt Gaetz to play Party politics on the House floor anymore, exposing conflicted Republican politicians for what they are. Gaetz will be Trump's eyes and ears in the DOJ while pinpointing the institutional rot that must be purged from the department.

Nuance is lost on you with the pick. Many moving parts in this cabinet thing, but did you ever think a sacrificial lamb may be needed to distract the swamp mob, while others get confirmed and things get accomplished? A red herring even? The left/media doesn't like it when the other side plays smart and has an organized plan. And of course the vitriol will be huge. He is going after these peoples jobs and their criminal actions.
Why does he need nuance? He has the Senate. Just pick someone qualified. Instead he nominated a clown. That deserves criticism. Anyone praising it, or going to the lengths you are to rationalize it, deserves criticism too.
