First on Offense
Been a while since we have seen a fairly motivated Ga offense and a less than motivated defense play against an inferior opponent. Too many upper classmen playing on defense is probably the reason.
- OL played solid the entire game, it does look like Bobo will be in the guard rotation next year. Calhoun came in for several series, would assume he will be in the OL battle next year as well. Good to see them motivated and little breakdowns. Assuming Greene comes back we know our top 7 guys next year already.
- #3 and #33 ran hard the entire game. No Gurly effort against inferior teams. They moved the pile and ran hard the entire game. This combo could be really good for the next 2 years. Solid looking backs. #20 had some wiggle too and look forward to Cash $$ coming back one more year.
- Overall the WR core played ok. Pleased we let # 2, # 18 and #23 in the rotation early and often. Don't expect any superstars from this group but they played solid. Going to miss # 11, he brings effort every game and its appreciated.
- #23 at TE will step into the rotation next year and will be more than ready. He is solid.
- Thought we kept Beck in a series TOO LONG, but thought he played well. Same with Stockton, just wish he would have gotten 2 more series. Just don't have an opinion of him yet.
- Good to see Bobo and Beck engineer a 2-minute TD before the half. Impressive calls and execution.
- Our scheme was almost as bad as our effort at times. We get them at 3 and 6 or 4th and 5 and don't have a spy? WTH, then one time we go in a 3-2 defense on 3rd down with 2 spies and we sack the QB because he doesn't know what to do. Not sure we shoudn't stayed in this defense in all 3rd and long plays.
- Our DL wanted to engage and standup and look for the ball. Don't think our LB's could see the RB so we would have a pile at the line of scrimmage then the back would sprint out for a long gain.
- Several of our Pro-prospects should have set this game out, they were either not disciplined in their assignments or lackadaisical in their effort
- Seemed to rest # 3 more than usual.
- Not sure why we didn't play more of the #3 DL earlier, they could have held up just as good and got them more reps (They held up fine in 4th quarter)
- We rotated some DB's more than other position groups, couldn't get a read on their ability but we played 8 or so before the 4th quarter.
- One officiating grip, NO HOLDING CALLS the entire game, i saw one of our ends tackled on a TD play to that side. Really inexcusable based on the matchups.
