really disheartening. I'm a Catholic and proud of it . One thing is for sure we don't change our minds about some social issues unlike some others and we have no spin off churches such as southern baptist to first .

Many years ago the Catholic Faith was the only form of religion that believe in God . Then you started having baptist and so on .

Then you have people bash a man like the Pope and call themselves God fearing . Smh . Catholics have done more to protect the unborn and homeless than any others .

It's really sad to see . I would suggest reading. Rediscover Catholicism by Matthew Kelly .

On a different note , I'm doing fine , I just not spending all my time on a message board any longer and I wish I have done this long ago . However it's better late than never . God bless and Go Dawgs .

Hope y'all go find the book by Mr. Kelly . Until next peace be with you .

You had us worried.

I won't put the Pope down as the leader of the Catholic Church, and never would, but I do challenge his politics. He had a perfect opportunity, being in the US, to address what is happening in the Middle East in respect to genocide of Christians or a host of other moral issues, but instead is focused on Global Warming, as if he is some left-wing liberal Democrat.

The Pope wants us, the people of the US, to have compassion for illegal immigrants and refugees entering the United States. But fails to mention any compassion for the American taxpayer which will be burdened with the cost of such an influx. We are broke, and I'm unsure how much more we can handle. But, apparently, that doesn't matter.

I respect the Pope and his moral obligations, but his politics are a different matter.

How bout selling all the art at the Vatican to feed the poor in Rome and around the world?

How bout the covering up of pedophilia in the church?

No thank you Sandusky, I think I will take a shower at home.

All Christian denominations have positive accomplishments and severe shortcomings. All have sinned and fallen short of Jesus' ideals.

The Pope is head of the Catholic Church. But Jesus Christ is head of the church!

Glad to see you're ok.

Protestant preachers wearing 2000 dollar suits and Presidential Rolexes is the one that cracks me up.

I think Jesus would take a flame thrower to the whole bunch. But, maybe not...

There has been much good done as well. I agree.

Well let me ask , how often does your church collect food for food bank? We collect cane food every Wednesday for school mass and Sunday's and Saturdays for mass ( children's time ) and if a food bank is running low on food they pick up the phone and call and they double the food drive during school or the Knight of C step up .

Does any of your churches do this ? I didn't think so . Oh our youth this year stayed home and help the poor in repairing homes , instead of going off on a field trip " to help repair homes" . What has your church done to help in your area ? Yeah nothing . Takes a tornado to do it .

Maybe you can tell me about your church men club raising money to help a poor high school student who going to college with maybe book money or room and board . Surely y'all do that . No ?

Why not you share some of the things your church does IN your area to try and make it better ... That great y'all built one habitat for humanity house to our three in one year .

So the Catholic Church does a lot . There something going on every weekend to get involved and if you can't then you can give .

I always like to ask people who bash Catholic Church what they do to help the poor in their area and they can't seem to answer a simple question. They always tell me about some mission trip to Kentucky. That nice but what about in your area ? Everyone rich there ? Deer in headlights.

It's also funny these food bank never call any other church to ask for food because they can't count on them , like they do us .

Tell me how often your church collect food for the poor ? Besides around thanksgiving and Christmas. Oh darn got you again .

Let your left hand not know what your right hand is doing.

Paraphrase, humility is gone when you boast of your works there hotshot.

When you told everyone, you just vexed your blessing.

Just letting you all know what the Catholic Church is doing sense y'all are experts . I can't wait until y'all become the Pope.

I would never have any desire to be the pope. The whole ritual, relic, pope dress thing is creepy to me.

Very nice of you to take up for your church, show us the good things they do. I have always thought Catholics were about service to people. All people regardless of other religion, color, etc.

I always wish him the best, but would never call him the holy father. Where the big ditch in the road with Catholics and Christians is the personal relationship with Christ. Christians seek forgiveness and counsel through the Grace of Christ. We see him as our intercessor. The only way to the Father is through Christ.

Saying that, I have respect for the Catholic Church and will not bash it.

But I do have a problem with a couple of Pope issues. For a man who is supposedly on the internet with God, the Popes, throuought the years, sure do cater to the whims of peoples desires when it seems to conflict with the desires of God. The current Pope is also catering to the one world government folks as he speaks on behalf of God on the environment. Wow. We kill 70,000,000 unborn human babies and he wants to declare God's intentions on the environment....... Bet he either comes out pro same sex marriage or does not mention it. He is on a publicity tour for the Catholic Church, wouldn't want to offend anyone with God's commands......

Funny how the liberal media is fawning all over him. Imagine that. They are doing it because he caters to them.

No man has the authority to rewrite or misspeak God's Word. The last sentence of the Bible is very clear on that. The Pope does that. There is something very wrong with his perceived authority

"No man has the authority to rewrite or misspeak God's Word. The last sentence of the Bible is very clear on that. The Pope does that. There is something very wrong with his perceived authority" This is my issue, with the whole Pope issue. Catholics treat him like a deity, thought there was something in the Bible about idolatry?

Hey, he is a good man. But he is a man. He holds no more holiness than a born again Christian man or woman.

The Catholic Church was not the only form of religion that believed in God. Where in the world did you get this from? Christ followers had no denomination or central head. It was the body of believers that was the Church. It still is today.

Man created Catholicism, and Church denominations, not God. At no point in the Bible did any of the great prophets become pope like. The central head of the Church is Christ and Christ alone. No man saves me. No man forgives me and no man can interpret God's Word contrary to what it says.

God's Word has not changed since the days it was written. Why do we see changes in how we should accept it now. The Bible is very relevant. It's truths are infinite.

Christ wanted no more than for us to have a personal relationship with him. I am not bashing the Pope. I respect a man of principle. But he does not speak to God for me.

If he rewrites God's Word, the respect part is off and he will have to answer for that. As the Bible states.

Here you go do a little reading . Educate yourself https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church

Face it we have been around a lot longer than y'all spin off faith . Enjoy your story telling preacher .

That funny because we ask God for forgiveness as well .

Does your church allow Gay marriage?

My church is non denominational and my preacher teaches straight from the Bible.

He also instructs me to ask God directly for forgiveness and not him as he's a man.....just like me.
You said go directly toGod , what do you mean by that ? Catholic ask for God forgiveness. There teaching of the bible as well . Probably more so than any church I have ever been too.

You're a Christian and that's what is most important.

What I don't personally care for in any religion are politics, idolatry, hierarchy and hypocrisy.

The Catholic church has made a very profound and positive impact over the centuries, but it's not for me......and that's just me.

The Catholic Church/ Faith is the oldest organiz religious group .

That is not what you said and that is not true.

Even with that, "religious groups" mean nothing. Our personal relationship with Christ and the Church universal is the key

Here you go do a little reading . Educate yourself https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church

While wiki might be accustomed norm for intellectual enlightenment, it is the opinion of those who contribute.

Christ followers were not called Catholics. They were only Christ followers. Organized religion was used to control the masses. I do not belong to a denomination, I am a Christ Follower only.

The Catholic Church is fine. The pomp and circumstance of ritual means nothing to Christ, only our relationship with him.

Face it we have been around a lot longer than y'all spin off faith . Enjoy your story telling preacher .

Was Paul a Catholic? Peter? Mary to whom you pray through?

We're any of Christ's disciples Catholic?

Where was the Catholic Church during Christ's crucifixion?

If you want organized religion, look to the Jews. Wonder how many Catholics there were when Moses freed the Hebrew slaves?

Wonder if Moses was Catholic?

Where was the Pope the day Christ was crucified?

Christ followers were the Church. The Church was groups of followers meeting in their homes.

Not really sure your point here.
