are only taking 26 players to Lexington.
My understanding is that the roster is limited to 35 players and that 35 is the most who can see game action over the course of the season. By my count, 31 different players have played... so I don’t think it’s the case where we are SO injured that only the 26 who traveled would be able to play. I would have thought that we would have traveled one of the freshman pitchers who is redshirting, just in case something crazy happens this weekend. That seems like a no risk, all benefit proposition.
Would be interested to know the thought process behind that decision.
This really is crazy, the amount of guys who are out and then a couple more are playing through some stuff... the fact that we are 21-4 and won a series against a great team last weekend speaks volumes.
On the injury front, I was really disappointed to see that Patrick Sullivan isn’t traveling. That guy has had some terrible luck with injuries. I haven’t heard anything, and I’m basing this comment only my own thoughts here, but I do wonder if we’ll see him again this season.
