In a couple of weeks we will know where UGA stands. All programs win and lose some individual recruiting battles, we will have to look at the class as a whole when complete. Finish in the top 3 among your peers (SEC and other top southeastern programs) then it is a great year, finish 4-5 and it's a good year but makes it hard to win big unless you have had a top 3 finish in the previous couple of years. Finish 6th or lower and you are losing ground in the talent department compared to your top peer group.
The exception is the single recruit that can change a program, a Tebow, Newton, Pollack, type multi year all American. With those guys it's hard to project who will be a standout multi year starter verse a program changing generational player. UGA hasn't gotten that type player in over a decade, or at least hasn't gotten to enjoy the full success due to major problems elsewhere in the program. You could say Stafford was that guy, but the defense was so bad it didn't matter, Gurley was that guy but injuries and off the field trouble never allowed him to have the maximum impact.
Where UGA falls among its peers will tell us how the program faired in recruiting.
