Georgia had four uncommitted prospects in town other than Landon Schutte.
No. 9 LHP Bo Holloway (TN)
No. 17 SS Miles Young (TX)
No. 21 LHP RJ Cope (GA)
No. 38 OF Wessley Roberson (GA)
The returns from the weekend were very good landing its best out of state commitment in years. I expect UGA to get 1 more pitcher in this class and take 2-3 bats. I think if the roster limit was still 40 or was slightly higher you could see Georgia push LSU, Vandy, Tennessee, and the Texas schools for the number 1 class in the country with this staff. The new roster caps will force UGA and other schools to take less HS players with the portal being a big deal.
I will also pass along another encouraging note. I know several former players who played Stricklin, Perno, and others are all behind Wes Johnson. A big reunion happened this passed weekend and they are high on the future of the program.
On the team side of things this team is even closer than last year. Dash alluded to Nolan McCarthy being a locker room leader and it’s very true. This is the deepest UGA baseball team in well over a decade to me. They are pushing each other on and off the field. I said last year Tre Phelps would be the breakout freshman but this year you got 3 candidates in Bryce Clavon, Michael Mullinex, and Cade Brown.
Erik Parker is a highly touted SS but the bat isn’t there yet nor is a starting spot with Kolby Branch returning. Cade Brown might have the most power on this team the EVs and HRs he can hit are scary. Bryce Clavon is a well rounded prospect with a good hit tool and can slot at SS, 3B, or the OF pretty easy. Michael Mullinex is the most talented of them all a true 5 tool switch hitting CF. If I had to predict one to break out it be Mullinex however Nolan McCarthy, Devin Obee, and Robbie Burnett all in the OF with Tre Phelps playing some too. It will be very tough to get ABs but I can see Mullinex breaking through.
