The point is that the gov shouldn’t be funding any media. Especially given the one sided coverage of NPR.

I don’t understand the point here relating to far and away the most technologically advanced rocket company on the planet. It benefits Americans. Because Musk owns it? Those contracts were put in place when he supported Biden. In any event whatever conflict you are calling attention to has nothing to do with the issue of government funded media - which does Americans no good.

It was always a small potato.

I don’t know much about NPR but I suspect that a 1% drop in gross revenue is something they can survive.
It's not the funding, it's the strings attached. So, the government can give Musk billions and if the strings attached are that he sends rockets into space for U.S. national security and the government is making sure they are getting what they pay for, no problem. Otoh, if the government is paying private media outlets, what are they getting in return? It's like trusting a study by the American Tobacco Institute that concludes smoking isn't bad for your health.

Now it's small potatoes.

I have never thought it was a big deal. I was always curious why the federal government is funding a particular needs organization.

Furthermore, when the NPR folks get offended by this, they say well, 99% of our funding comes from private donors, and we get very little for the federal government. Well, if it’s a little, then, why do you accept it all?
