The point is that the gov shouldn’t be funding any media. Especially given the one sided coverage of NPR.
It's not the funding, it's the strings attached. So, the government can give Musk billions and if the strings attached are that he sends rockets into space for U.S. national security and the government is making sure they are getting what they pay for, no problem. Otoh, if the government is paying private media outlets, what are they getting in return? It's like trusting a study by the American Tobacco Institute that concludes smoking isn't bad for your health.It was always a small potato.
I don’t know much about NPR but I suspect that a 1% drop in gross revenue is something they can survive.
I have never thought it was a big deal. I was always curious why the federal government is funding a particular needs organization.Now it's small potatoes.
