From what I understand there is a limit on how many times SEC teams can take their band on the road which is a league rule. If that is the case, this is an awful decision. Is this the case where the smaller and less revenue SEC teams say "it's not fair because we don't have the money they have"? On the other hand the smaller less revenue teams have no problem accepting the enormous league payouts generated by the larger revenue teams of the league.
The PAC 12 does not come close to SEC money but Southern Cal takes their whole band to every game, and some of the destinations are over a thousand miles away such as the Oregon schools, Washington schools and South Bend. No issues there.
I'd like to see all the league teams have the option to take their complete bands to every game they want. It's the schools money and if that is the way they want to spend it, that's their business. If a school elects not to take their complete band on the road and chooses to save the money, that's their right and business. I guess we will be going to Knoxville with a small derby band this year.
