Going through last night's interview with Ryan Montgomery now. I mentioned this in the other thread as well, but here's what he said when I asked him about UGA going after other 2025 QBs and portal guys:
"They told me that I’m the guy. I’m the top priority now. I will be the only 2025 quarterback that they are going to be going after. When they got me, they told me that that’s the only kid we’re going to have in the 2025 class. They did say they were going to try and get a portal guy this spring because I know Coach Smart wants four scholarship quarterbacks for the upcoming year."
Take that for what it's worth. Matt Zollers said similar things as well. But that's the message the staff has expressed to Montgomery.
To be quite frank, I think I would be happy with the kid who truly wants to be here and has for a long time, and devote energy to a portal guy/other 2025 priorities. But I'm also not a championship winning head coach, at least outside of the NCAA video games.
