But, with this coaching speculation, the talking heads were pretty on point. I'm no insider, but the coaches we heard many mention going back 6 weeks are clearly real possibilities and targets. Crean has been wanted....Matta mentioned...Prohm. I thought even Crean might be wishful thinking considering our history, but we are FINALLY an attractive landing spot if we'll just flipping pony up!

I wouldn't be me if I didn't (and this community would be wrong not to) credit Fox for running it squeaky clean (in a time when coming to an untainted program is paramount), for having the wherewithal to hire Jonas Hayes, and teaching good team concept ball that won us enough that Jonas and Fox and Georgia are getting looks from legit blue chips. With a freshman class that is excellent (possibly the best in 15 years), Tyree Crump, who would only be encouraged by his prospects of a new coach, and...we'll see on Jordan Harris--hope he takes ball seriously or we're better without him, honestly. You don't get a shot like Tyree...or JJ...or Larry Bird...without loving the game. Does Harris? It's a huge intangible, imo. I got mocked for suggesting Harris wasn't a "gym rat that would be easy for Fox"--that's essentially what I meant then--does he love the game? Does he hate to lose?

I never loved Fox as much as his wife or had sensual fantasies about him--I recognized that we had not plateaued yet due to Fox's delayed recruiting success (ie. Jonas), and I thought only then, when Fox had done all he could, that we should move on. I also overestimated his abilities as a floor coach or his potential with real talent--I own that. I love everything about his style except for ineptitude on offense--that is his Achilles heel as a head coach. It's partly the system he runs, partly players taking on the personality of the coach, and part Fox demanding disciplined shot selection at risk of being pulled. I called for his firing after losing at Vandy and haven't defended him since. Looks like I was seeing it the way people who get paid lots of money (and do have experience in these things even if we don't love our Administration or always agree--they are qualified), so you call can nag me about Fox 'til the day I die. I just don't allow myself to be so miserable as many folks nor ignore recruiting successes like we've had or being upbeat about that elevation of the program's floor.

Not looking to argue or bicker--let's be excited about reason to be excited in March when we aren't even in the NIT!

When Crean is like public relations-style pining for the job, something tells me, we're gonna be excited with whomever we hire....and so will recruits.
