Supreme Court Justice, Antonin Scalia is dead. Speculation is that a replacement will not be named until after the coming presidential election. But......who knows?

The Reptilicans are in a tough spot. They can block an Obama nominee, but progressives still control the Court. On the other hand, the open seat becomes a YUGE campaign issue. If the Reptilicans persist in going full retard this election, the American electorate will definitely turn progressive. Check and mate for the Democrats.

The gutless wonder has already said POSOTUS won't get the pick. So maybe he heard you.

If the Reptilicans stall the nomination process, the American people will view it negatively. The ironic thing is that the Democratic nominee will win the presidency, bring in a Democratic majority in the Senate...and former President Barack Obama will fill Scalia's seat on the Supreme Court. Thanks for stalling, retards!

No presedent trump will tar and feather Obama and the dems.

And anarchy will reign supreme if all of that happens. Then the only courts around will be the kangaroo variety.

If the Reptilicans successfully block President Obama's judicial nomination(s), it will ensure a massive turnout for the 2016 election. Massive turnout favors the Democrats. Democrats will defend only 1 contested Senate seat. Reptilicans will defend 24 contested Senate seats; 18 of those are in Democratic-leaning or competitive states.

If I were a Reptilican, I would urge the party leadership not to stonewall and try to find an acceptable compromise like Judge Srinivasan on the DC Court of Appeals. Unfortunately, the Reptilican party has gone full retard and is going to stonewall itself into a landslide defeat of epic proportions AND ensure that either President Clinton or President Sanders will get a filibuster-proof Senate confirmation of former President Obama as Supreme Court Justice.

Similar situation during Reagan admin. and Kennedy was appointed. Rule of law is that it should proceed during this term. If each party wants governance as established then they have to follow process. You just can't bend it your way to meet your own ideas. This is applicable to both parties. You can't have it both ways.

Exactly. While you may not like it, it's the Prez (regardless of who it is) duty to nominate. He does not leave office till next Jan 20th. Even if new President nominates on day 1, you still have 3 to 4 mos to go through committees, vetting, etc. and to a vote. I just can't see 14 to 15 mos to be a good thing in waiting. Besides, if Hillary wins, it could be even longer. GOP would try to block hers too.

Too many pressing issues to get a final resolution on. Not to mention other issues like people on death row and stays, business vs the people lawsuits and vice versa, different voting rights, etc. Most pundits are talking immigration, unions, etc. But the Supreme's hear many more cases you never hear about.

you are right , it does go both ways, just think about all the crap that the dems crammed through because they could . they didn't care about who should do what , they put the party first , not the country .

i don't see it that way , people are ANGRY at the politicians , not just the repubs . i think most clear thinking americans will welcome someone to step up and show some backbone and stand up to the radicals on something this important . if odimma nominates someone , it won't be a serious nomination , but a symbolic nominee so he can beat up on repubs because he knows senate will block it . remember , only 24% of registered voters claim to be liberal .

Totally agree. It should be country first, then party.

y stall it will be a victory for the very freedom of this ONCE great nation. If you want socialism move away but keep the Republic intact (at least as much as it is today).

The POSOTUS can put up anyone he wants. The Senate is not obligated to pass them through. This POS has done enough damage. He and his commie allies in the House and senate haven't let the Constitution and rules get in their way....you reap what you sow

I worry that Obama will try to appoint someone while Congress is out of session. I believe the DEMS passed a rule several years back when a Repub. was president that prevents appointments of supreme court justices when congress is out of session, but the great leader will try to work around that rule. Although I'm a conservative I'm actually OK with Obama getting to chose the nominee. It works both ways and hopefully when a republican is in office the next 8 years there will be 2-3 liberal judge seats to appoint. I think it would best serve Obama's legacy and the upcoming election for him to appoint a moderate judge and not one of his alpha-male female bull moose.
