Seems to me the problem at UGA is the want to win,

Got a good an at coach and if you question that you are going to hell.

Easier to not give a shitte than put up with a program that is never going to get it done. The current coach has had 15 years of consistent top 10 recruiting classes not to mention several NFL greats, it ain't happen and we are sliding further away every year.

I think there are too many incompetent unimaginative people in the hierarchy who are more interested in keeping their power than building the best possible football program.

We are like a less winning version of the 90's- early 00's Braves. Should have been in the title hunt a lot more often but don't you dare question Bobby Cox. You can't just look at a record (with the braves or UGA), it is how you lose, and who you lose to that should be studied.

Exactly, that is the best example I've read to describe the problem. Bobby would not lay down a bunt to move the runner if his life depended on it.

The Braves only shortcoming was in the postseason. Even there they won every first round series they played in for 10 straight years and went to 5 WS.
Only later in their run did they lose more the they won in postseason.

Bats would go cold and Boddy didn't know what to do to manufacture runs. Pitching was outstanding. Batting and coaching was horrible.

Hitting was good enough to get to 5 WS's.
It's temping to tie it up into a logical bundle. Truth is those Braves teams simply didn't win the titles they should have, there is no ''reason'', it just didn't happen. Hitting and managing was good enough to win more consistently than any team in history. They won in the postseason, they beat great pitchers. etc, just not in those few do or die games.
Cox has to be given credit, his teams showed up to play over the grind of 162 game seasons with remarkable persistence over a very long period of time.
Here's a fact the illustrates how random their lack of championships was. Opening the 1998 WS against the Yankees Maddux and Glavine shared the record for most consecutive postseason games pitching at least 7 innings while giving up 2 or fewer runs. They did this CONCURRENTLY. How in the hell is that possible without winning back to back championships ?

My example is more about the culture in town during that time not comparing records. The point is I remember very clearly a lot of people happy with winning and the consensus was you can't question Bobby Cox (concentrating on the record not the ultimate results).
