Playing one mid-level Big 10 team OOC (along with 3 home cupcakes, per usual) isn't what kept Bama out of the playoff. Losing what should have been two of their easier conference games against 6-6 Vandy & Oklahoma (along with Tennessee) is what did it. We played 2 ACC teams OOC- including the eventual ACC champion- and one of the most difficult SEC schedules in recent memory- and somehow we overcame, won the conference, and got a bye in the playoff. So what does he have to complain about? And bringing up the fact that they're- gasp!- playing 2 Power 4 teams OOC next year (for one of the first times in their history, it must be noted), when those teams are mid-Wisconsin (at home) and Florida State, which just had one of the worst seasons in recent ACC history, as an example of how tough they're unnecessarily making it on themselves, just reeks of desperation. Where have you gone, Alabama?
Tide AD to reevaluate scheduling after CFP snub
Alabama AD Greg Byrne said he would need to assess his nonconference scheduling philosophy moving forward after being left out of the College Football Playoff field.
