I hear you, bench. There are pros & cons to most everything.

If the govt does increase taxes on those most able to afford it, I damn sure don’t want it going to some wasteful project or to fund a $2 million dollar planning retreat in the Hamptons for members of Congress. I’d want it put to good use (pay down deficit, infrastructure, etc...).

I don’t know much about the background checks currently in place in Chicago, but it just seems like more times than not I hear “...and the firearms were legally purchased by the perpetrator...” after a mass shooting. There must be a better way than what we’re currently doing.

So many problems. Not many good solutions....and it makes it 10 times worse when our political parties are too busy playing tit-for-tat than going about the business of moving our country forward in a positive manner.

Obama set this country on its current course., which was exactly his plan. We took it without much of a fight. I believe it is locked on autopilot now. Only question in my mind is how long. 4 more years of Trump would help me make it to Shady Acres, but these dumbassed youngsters are voting themselves out of SS and Medicare. Healthcare in old age is going to be tough for them after we split the pie in 40 million more (illegal) pieces.

Plus, a lot of the children of the first wave are going to college and will compete with the fools for available jobs. I see it in my small neighborhood. Several successful Hispanic families have moved in to get their kids in Walton HS. When I come by Walton when it's letting out, I notice large numbers of Hispanics. Every one of them will go to college and do well. Get used to basement life, millennials and Gen Z. You are screwing the pooch.

I get it, but here's where I think you're missing it. The "rich" are very different from year to year and decade to decade. I've been extremely poor, and I've been a lot better off than I am now. The point is we move in and out of our income ranges all the time.

Those who are in the top 1% pay the overwhelming majority of income taxes, that's just a fact. There comes a point where people will simply find another way to take their income or just stop earning. Why would anyone who's making 250K take the risk to expand their business and hire more people so he can make 400k, when the 150 extra would be taxed at 70%? It doesn't make sense.

As to back ground check, we have them, I know, I've had dozens. Why is it we only hear about more laws and checks only after an mass shooting with a particular type of weapon? Especially when that very weapon is minuscule as it relates to gun crime?

Blacks slaughter each other by the dozens every week, not a peep. 80% of all gun crimes are committed by gang members, but when a Repub member of congress submitted a bill to use red flag laws (I'm not for them regardless) for gang members, the Democrats voted it down. The answer is they are not serious, its nothing but a political blunt object for them.

The are nothing but rabble rousers. They need two things to stay in power, one, they need people to be dependent, and two they need people to be victims of whoever they say are the oppressors.

Didnt need pubs his 1st two years in office. Dims had the house and senate... his only accomplishment was the that abortion of health care law. Now it makes sense fine american citizens if they dont buy unaffordable, unusable healthcare policy and give it to illegal immigrants free. smdh Also pubs did not act like lunatics when he got his supreme court nominee.
