Smoking a top round roast for the 1st time and need suggestions...

Just bought a Recteq last month and have smoked a couple of buts and some brisket but having a hard time finding a good video on smoking a top round. Anyone have a good recipe?
Don't ask me, I have destroyed enough meat in my ill-fated smoking attempts that I am surprised I have not been criminally charged.

Congrats on the Recteq, I would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous.

I’ve never smoked a top round, I’d probably cut it into stew meat and cook in the crockpot overnight on low, but if I were to smoke it, probably look into a marinade that might make it a little more tender, and cook to medium rare on the egg.

Where are you leaning to, what research have you done? I’m sure there are a few good ideas in YouTube if you haven’t used that resource yet, good luck.

Could he cube it and make it into some sort of burnt ends?

That’s actually a great idea, just don’t think top round is fatty enough to get that type of “burnt” , though I could be totally wrong, perhaps you could coat the ends in bacon grease and get the desired effect?? Probably worth doing some research, as burnt ends are dang hard to beat!

Youtube mostly. They all seam to push smoking to 195-203 like a brisket. I am going low and slow right now so we will see in a few hours. Having Thanksgiving today while kids are still here. Thanks.

It has very little fat unfortunately.
