This is called the Dawg CHAT. Some people want to treat it as a chat room, not a message board. Just saw a comment that said topic view is an inferior format for chatting. Maybe a name change is in order.
What's the difference? (Not trying to be a smart-a$$)This is called the Dawg CHAT. Some people want to treat it as a chat room, not a message board. Just saw a comment that said topic view is an inferior format for chatting. Maybe a name change is in order.

Agree with your assessment. Topic view does not facilitate conversation. Inferior, IMO since thread view does both.A chat room is a real time chat. A message board is where you post a message but not intended as a running dialogue in real time. I know it doesn't seem different, but it is in terms of what one should expect. the two have kind of melded here as opposed to other boards. That's why the hybrid view would be helpful here, but Yahoo isn't going to give us that. The previous version could have been viewed as topic, thread, or hybrid. But it really depended on what view as generally accepted by the posters on that board. It's all been made to be a much bigger deal than it needed to be it seems. Biggest difference is now you can't just scan back and see what is generally being said the way you could before. Now oyu have to click on each topic if you want to see anything beyond the original subject line.
Many of us have explained that to them that for several weeks. Yahoo goals for the new site don't involve "Community". That's not in the new business model, and they aren't going to spend extra just to accommodate it for the 3% who want it.A chat room is a real time chat.
