Just for fun on a Monday, I was curious how Florida performed against the mighty Mizzou defense. UF won their game 21 to 3.
So, what better way than to review the statistics...they always tell the whole story, right??
Against Mizzou:
UF gained 337 yards, UGA gained 298.
UF rushed for 129 yards averaging 2.9 yards per carry.
UGA rushed for 120 yards averaging 2.7 yards per carry.
UF passed for 208 yards on 20 of 33 attempts.
UGA passed for 178 yards on 23 of 32 attempts.
UF won time of possession, 37:53 to 22:07
UGA won time of possession, 38:55 to 21:05
UF had 23 first downs
UGA had 19 first downs
UF won turnovers 0 to 2
UGA and Mizzou each had 1
UF scored three times...Touchdowns
UGA scored three times...Field Goals
Now, how did Missouri's Offense perform against the Gators:
Against UF, MO gained 257 yards
Against UGA, MO gained 164 yards
Against UF, MO rushed for 106 yards averaging 4.1 per carry
Against UGA, MO rushed for 21 yards averaging 1 yard per carry
Against UF, MO passed for 151 yards on 16 of 39
Against UGA, MO passed for 143 yards on 11 of 26
Against UF, MO had 12 first downs
Against UGA, MO had 6 first downs
So, what conclusions...each team performed similarly with UF having a little better offensive performance with MUCH better points to show for it, and UGA had a little better defensive performance with one of the field goals coming after the interception and goal line stand by UGA.
UF may beat UGA by 50 points, but, for fun...the stats show very similar performances. Different QB for UF though as Grier is out and Harris in.
