So, I have the patience for a single post. Here goes...

So, I come to the board after the game. I read the top two topics. One started by kurtmueller, one by Monolithic. I'm like....hmm, this is tame. I don't sense any irrational Fox bashing. Maybe it's late. Maybe the board read my posts over the last 24 hours and put this game in perspective. Maybe they watched the game and actually saw our two squads just standing next to each other on the court before the tip off. Maybe I'm not even going to have to play "I'll post as the reasonable person" today.

Turns out it is more like...maybe I should have stopped reading there.

I am dumbfounded by the posts I am seeing. Yorkie's Law Part 2 in full force. Yep, the experiment is repeatable. It's a law. Irrational, idealistic, and negative in full force.

I was texting with a knowledgeable friend during much of the game. He is not a subscriber. I need to find more like him. We talked about how we were looking forward to Mann and Kessler being gone. We talked a lot about JJ. He commented about how tough our D was and was keeping us in the game. We talked about keeping it close enough to have a shot to steal one on the road. He commented (okay, he doesn't quite watch as many games as I do and is a bit younger) how obvious it was who the better coached team is. We bitched about the refs. He talked about how tough it was knowing that we just don't quite have the talent this year. I told him about recruiting and that the talent issue wouldn't be the case really soon. He mentioned that "Mann can't hit a f8%$ing free throw." We talked about how we appreciated our brand of ball--playing hard as F effort-wise seemingly every possession, how great our team defense was, how disciplined our team was, how we have a team-oriented concept where everyone shares the ball. But, most of all, the sense was "it has never been clearer than tonight that I just want to see what Fox can do with a legit roster of high-major-caliber players." That was what I took from it: That we were excited win or lose to finally be about to jump off that precipice where we can truly assess CMF's abilities as a coach because he will have a finally have a roster without glaring holes and players like CM who have irreparable flaws as much as they have assets.

And then, I stumbled into this place. And, I almost forgot that serious UGA Hoops fans that weren't irrationally negative existed. I've got a great long weekend planned. I'd be lying if I said I didn't suspect I'd be back to check in a couple of times from my cell phone. But, damn if I don't vow to myself I won't allow it to be very often.
