there. He informed Harbaugh he had no interest in the position at Michigan.

Can he not start and let Kirby stay home? How can Kirby allow his replacement (who's free to flip our recruits and spend no time game planning for either side...) to tip the balance so FAR in Bama's side-'recruiting wise, at this point? He's not committed to UGA if not... I was fine w him coaching out the playoffs til this development...

I mean-'I know Saban would prefer otherwise- but **** him at this point...
And doesn't this mean Mel Tucker is cook elsewhere, if not to UGA then somewhere else certainly? Nick, Pruitt, and Mel Tucker won't all be coaching the secondary...and Pruitt is no LB coach...

I'd bet this was in the works from the start...Nicky had him talking to our recruits on the down low

I understand the $ that we don't have to pay him if he got another job so I understand keeping him on staff until he left. I just don't understand why we would let him get out on the recruiting trail knowing that he wouldn't be here next year. What is he going to tell the recruits?

As a side note, looks like that opens up the door for Smart to announce his DC. I have heard zero rumors about Schotty so I am assuming we will have to pay him to leave.

I wonder about the urgency to get rid of Pruitt since reports were he wanted to stay and had a year left on his contract. This would have been a no-brain hire for the dawgs and we just couldn't/wouldn't make it happen. I know we have to trust the HC to make his hires but this one smells funny. Pruitt don't play well with others? Is that all? Pruitt could have helped keep the recruiting class intact as well. Now Pruitt and Kirby will work for the same team at least temporarily. No need to beat that dead horse any longer I guess.

One reason that Bama is always good under Saban is the coaching and they got another good one. That being said, I gotta believe that KS has a big plan at work here. If he's got someone better than Pruitt lined up then full steam ahead.

I would have to think there would be more to this than that (at least I hope so). It seemed that the logical choice would be to keep Pruitt for continuity, recruiting, momentum on the defensive side, etc. It makes me think that there is a deeper problem here with him and we would rather take the hit next year in losing him. If this was the decision all along though, I still don't understand why you let him get out there and recruit. Basically, Bama got a free recruiter during the busiest time of the year.

Mel ain't staying what i heard what I am hearing it's a cluster freak at Alabsma . Basicley Kirby and nick fighting the week after UGA Flordia game. Aprently Kirby new he was leaving for UGA so he told some staff and recruits want to come and they are. I can not name names or anything but . It's real ugly over in Tuscoluasa . Kirby aprently ready to poach Bama it might get ugly. All I know is Bama might have a new staff.

All I know and hear is Saban panicking on the inside. This hire proves it. It's going to get real ugly like evil trying to collect his part of the deal.

Congrats to Coach Pruitt if true.
This might be bad news for Us with a few top recruits though.

We might gain a few AND lose a few.
I still think Kirby would have been best served retaining Pruitt and several other defensive coaches.
I think so to but him and Kirby would have buted heads with each other . we will be better under Kirby.

If Saban can work with Pruitt, I expect Kirby could as well.
Also where are all to the citizen torch committee types who jumped on the anti Pruitt mob wagon ? I read many post claiming he was shoved out the door at both Bama and FSU. That made no sense then, and it's clear it didn't happen at Bama. If He had a bad reputation with Bama folks, he would have never been hired by Jimbo. Fisher had a lot of friends still in Tuscaloosa when he hired JP, He would have known if there were problems.
