"Leave no one behind" applies to those behind unvoluntarily
but does NOT apply to deserters and traitors to America who WANT to join the other side.
The terrorists puled a fast one on Obama.....trading an American deserter who would not fight
for his country for 5 cold-blooded killers who will gladly start fighting again for the terrorists.

the irony is that anybody worth trading 5 terrorist for

This isn't new information - they knew all this before they did it. Not only did they give up 5 terrorists, they jeopardized the lives of plenty of people looking for him.
The only reasons it might possibly make sense to trade for him are:
1) if he had some deep dark classified secrets (which doesn't appear to be the case), and
2) in order to be able to enjoy imposing the death penalty for desertion (can't imagine Obama having this motivation).

The six men killed were in the 501st Infantry. All of them were killed in Paktika Province between August 18 and September 6, 2009, after the intense initial search for Bergdahl concluded but within the two- to three-month period when, by accounts from more than 20 members of the 501st, essentially every mission in the province had a PR component to it. One of those killed was from Comanche Company, two of those killed were in Bergdahl's Blackfoot Company, three were from Headquarters Company.
