Some bets are more certain than others

I'm sitting next to a Kentucky fan who is dressed head to toe in blue. Prolly wearing blue skivvies too. He's not a bad sort for a Kentucky fellow. Doesn't howl like a basset hound or shake blue pom poms or nothing. He isn't spilling any of his bourbon on me, so I'm getting along with him and enjoying talking hoops.

Maybe I'm feeling sociable because I myself have had a tall craft beer or two at Trapeze before the game. I find visits to the Steg this year to be much less stressful following a pre-game lubrication pit stop at Trapeze, Terrapin, or Copper Creek. For purely medicinal blood pressure purposes of course.

It was definitely the beer talking when I alerted my new Wildcat buddy in the first half that both Kessler and KPG were entering the game at same time and that we were about to observe a basketball rarity -- a new form of statistical double double.

"How so?" asks Mr. Wildcat.
"Neither of these two young scholars will take a shot." I respond.
"Defensive specialists are they?" he inquires.
"Not exactly." says I.

Emboldened by the brew, I kick the conversation up a notch:

"I can also guarantee you that neither of the two will even dribble the ball . Each will pass the ball like a hot potato without so much as letting the ball touch the floor."
"That's not possible!" he avers.
"Trust me." says I. "I'd wager you $100 on it if you don't let my wife hear about it."
"I'd be a fool not to take that bet." he quickly returns. "Unheard of for two SEC players not to even want to dribble." he astutely opines.

I'm already counting my winnings in anticipation of him greedily taking the bait. But he disappoints me by adding, "I can't match your bet because I just gave all my spending money to some scalper to buy my ticket. It cost me $80 to get this ducat." When he saw my look of incredulity, he concedes, "Would have cost me twice as much if the game had been in Lexington."

Oh how I look forward to a future day when us UGA fans are so fevered about Bulldawg basketball and so certain of winning big games that we are willing to scalp tickets for $80.

This is true story. Is also accurate that I would have won my bet had the loyal Wildcat fan been carrying more cash. Neither KPG nor Kessler dribbled nor shot in the two or three possessions they were on the court together. Coach Fox has them so well trained that I doubt it even entered their minds.
