"At least Ryan Day hasn't left third and gone to second base" Buck:
Woke up today and wanted to give Coach Day some love. Looking around college football, winning is hard and we take that for granted here sometimes. It’s not as easy to keep a top team rolling as people seem to think (see Alabama hiring the hottest name in the sport and USC stealing Lincoln Riley)

Now, I know he HAS to win the next game! But remember how hard winning is when fans cry for a new coach IF he loses again this season. It’s go time and coach deserves positive vibes from the fans. I promise, it could be much much worse

"Day is a victim" Buck:
Day takes more national heat for less reason than any coach I can remember. Can't even think of someone else to compare him to.

If he wins a big game, if doesn't count for some reason. If he loses a big game, it's because he can't win the big game.

Take away the cheating and OSU wins at least 1, and maybe 2 or 3, of the last 3 against Michigan. Take away Michigan's no-show in 2020, and he wins that one too.

Now, go out and get it done next week.

"Day beats the crap out of crappy teams but gets no respect" Buck: In my whole life Ryan Day is the only coach I’ve seen that can win a game by 7 touchdowns and some people still get upset about it.

Corny Buck: I keep thinking yesterday wasn’t Saturday. It wasn’t Gameday. It was RyanDay.

"Coach Day deserves this" Buck:
I want Coach Day to win the whole damn thing so bad for him. He’s had an incredible run of bad luck (bad calls, injuries, etc.). Add in the cheating bastards up north the last 3yrs, and the amount of flack he’s taken can’t be imagined by anyone on these boards.

I know it’s just a game at the end of the day…but dammit I hope he f'ing throttles them on Saturday, and doesn’t take the PC/Coachspeak track in the post game interview.

"Day just can't catch a break" Buck:
I was thinking about this and the Oregon game. If we don’t lose Josh Simmons in that game, I think we win by 10. It messed the whole offense up. Now throw in our mistakes, etc., and we only lose by 1.

Same with Georgia in a lot of ways. If we don’t lost Marv (and if the targeting gets called correctly) we win by 10. Instead what happened, happened and we lose by 1.

Against Clemson in 2019, of the scoop and score is called correctly, we win that game. And didn’t they twist JK’s ankle to slow him down some? He was injured in the 2nd half right? I’m trying to recall it.

TCUN, I believe Days record at worst should be 4-1 against them. They dodge us in 2020 and then go on a cheating spree.

Days been more snake-bit in big games than any OSU coach I can remember. Injuries, horrific refereeing decisions, and injuries to major players.

"Day is best coach in all of football in 2024" Buck:
It takes guts to step back and realize that you’re not doing everything perfectly. Credit to Day, he went out and got two great coordinators. He stopped calling plays, but he didn’t stop paying attention. When Knowles needed a reminder to be more aggressive, he did that and look at the result! He’s the coach of the year in my opinion.

"He's got us right there" Buck:
A literal handful of plays plus cheating has completely dominated the narrative for Day. It isn't like he gets blown out in big games, with the excepetion of the Bama game, in which our entire D-line caught Covid.

  1. Olave doesn't break off his route
  2. Fielding doesn't miss the kick
  3. JJ doesn't get a BS OPI call.
Those 3 plays right there would make Day 7-4 in Top-5 games, with 3 losses coming to a team with an illegal competitive advantage.

People harped on Day for being conservative late in the Georgia game to set up the field goal. But then on the flip side, him being aggressive in the Oregon game led to an OPI. At the end of the day, he had his team within a single play of winning every legitimate Top-5 game he has played, with the lone exception of Bama.

"We are so lucky to have Ryan Day" Buck:
I will always appreciate and defend Ryan Day. Sure, he's earned some criticism, every coach does, but he's great. And Day haters, especially the really loud ones on this site, should really pay heed. He would snatched up in a second if OSU let him go. USC, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, would take him right now. OSU would then possibly hire a coach that would do a lot worse than just lose to TTUN, so be careful what you wish for.

Today:

"You're a bunch of losers" Buck:
I hope you all appreciate Ryan Day for what his team did today! Go down with the ship you losers. All of you deserve to watch what's coming to Ryan Day. He's gonna get fired and exiled from the top of college football and the only people who will be upset about it are the rest of the country and you crybabies that care more about our head coach being a sweetheart than actually doing his job

Day postgame appreciation Buck:
Appreciate the slow decline of this program into a 3-4 loss irrelevant bowl participant because he can’t recruit and develop the OL, ignores special teams and shuts down his leg when it counts. He deserves the heat and should be shown the door.

Moved on, but it hurts Buck: Ohio state better nail this next hire because he both has to go AND there isn’t much room to improve. I need an Ohio guy who can take this to the next level, and I love Ryan day

Give him one more chance and he'll get her done Buck: I’m sorry. I know it hurts, but I think firing Day would be a colossal mistake. I really don’t want to give a full explanation right now, but there is no better replacement. Fickle, Hartline, and Vrabel could be good? But Fickle is struggling at Wisconsin. Hartline has shown he can be a great receivers coach and has (thus far) struggled with additional responsibility. Vrabel has shown nothing to indicate college coaching prowess. I think a lot of this loss is on Kelly, and while Day isn’t completely fine I think firing him now would be a stupid and emotionally driven decision.
