I've always heard that they stayed close and it's still essentially an enclave off of Broad St.

I lived there from '76-83. Did you ever go to National Hills Pharmacy? Dr. Kile who ran that place was a huge Dawg fan. He had one of his girls make a poster every week during football season with final score of each game on it. They would hang each poster above the Soda Fountain bar. Men young and old would come in there daily to discuss the Dawgs with Tom Kile.
I delivered prescriptions for him from 81-83 in a beat up, red '69 VW Beetle. Had to stop the thing with my feet because the brakes were so bad.
