We won two national championships with a mobile quarterback, three NFL quality OT's, McConkey, and Bowers. Those teams had 10 NFL first round draft choices who contributed to at least one of the National Championships.
So where are we now? We remain a deep and talented team. Walker, Williams, Wilson, Starks, Bolden and Beck are all future first round draft picks. But we do not have the OTs we had in the past, we don't have a mobile QB, we are breaking in a new TE (Luckie), and looking for a couple of WR's to step forward consistently. We are also attempting to navigate the new NIL world (both in terms of spending and speeding $100,000 cars).
This past weekend our team made one of the most epic comebacks of all time. We just fell short. We have three big games left. Texas, Miss, and Tennessee. If we go 2-1 in those games we will be playoff bound, and one of the handful of teams no one will want to play. Kirby will figure it out.
