On being named a captain...
“I’m very excited about having a C on my chest. Being able to wear that C means a lot, because the coaches picked me as a captain. They seen something in me from the last game, and that’s very important to me.”
On what he's saying to the team...
“I’d tell them just to stay focused. Look at how everything is going. A couple of weeks ago, it was the Auburn game. Each day, we go out there, and it’s one game at a time and one day at a time. We’ve got Southern in front of us. Let’s handle business, and everything else will take care of itself.”
On the leadership role as a senior...
“Being a senior, these past couple of years I’ve experience a whole lot. With the upperclassmen I had when I was here, they helped me understand certain things. When I came to be a senior this year and certain situations like this came up, I’m able to handle it.”
On what stood out against SC...
“It was just the hard work and effort that we were giving each and every play. We used the game plan successfully to stop South Carolina’s offense.”
On preparing for this game...
“Same way. The coaches are going to come up with a great game plan against Southern, and, as a defense, we’re going out here to practice each and every day by working on fundamentals and paying attention to details.”
On helping the underclassmen not get ahead of themselves...
“Of course. It’s me and whole lot of the other upperclassmen. We’ve been through this before, and we don’t want everyone else to get ahead of themselves or looking forward. We want to say ‘Hey, we haven’t arrived yet. We still have some things we need to improve on. We still have a long way to go.’ Right now, Southern is in front of us. We’ve got to take care of business.”
On facing a running quarterback...
“I’m excited. In this league, you’re always going to face teams with running quarterbacks, so I can’t wait to play him. It’s only going to help us further along down the line.”
