I like to look at relative stats (i.e. how you perform vs what a team averages giving up) in 8 major categories, then assess a game grade. Here are some high level numbers I gleaned from the review of us vs Bama.
Average game grades take into account differences in these 8 categories for that one game and assigns a multiplier based on location of game as well as P5 vs G5 vs FCS.
Weighted game grades take the average game grades and weigh games against the 4 best teams as triple, next 4 best as double, and 4 weakest as single.
So..for the TLDR among us...
Statistically UGA is slightly better overall, but a good bit better against the better teams on our schedule.

- Our run game versus their run defense is pretty much a push.
- Our pass game against their pass defense is an edge to us.
- Their run game versus our run defense is a very slight edge to us.
- Their pass game versus our pass defense is a pretty big edge to us.
- Our scoring offense is a push to their scoring defense.
- Our scoring defense is a slight edge over their scoring offense.
- Our offensive turnovers are a virtual push with their defensive forced turnovers.
- Our forced turnovers stats versus their offensive turnovers is a very big edge to them
- Our 3 best games were against Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Theirs were against M Tennessee, LSU, and Kentucky.
- Our 3 worst games were against GT, Auburn, and Vandy. Theirs were against Texas, Arkansas, and S Florida.
Statistically UGA is slightly better overall, but a good bit better against the better teams on our schedule.
