Super Bowl VII in 1973. Dolphins vs. Redskins.

Even though I was a football nut at the time, that was the first Super Bowl where I didn’t really like either team.

Never liked the Dolphins and the Redskins were too big a rival for Fran Tarkenton and the Vikings.

The other NFC power of the day, the Cowboys, I hated so much that I became a closet Steelers and Raiders fan hoping they’d stomp the ever-loving crap out of Dallas when they played.

I think the 1970’s NFL was about as good as football can get. Players might spend their whole career in one spot and entire organizations would develop unique personalities.

TV exposure was limited to two games on Sunday and one on Monday night. You cherished seeing your favorites when you could.
